Responsibilities

The Associate Director/Senior Safety Manager in the Rahway, NJ area supports specific client and project needs by ensuring best practices are implemented, safety compliance requirements are met, and enhance a culture of safety.

  • Oversee all aspects of a commercial construction project ensuring OSHA compliance
  • Conduct daily safety meetings
  • Complete accident reports and conduct accident investigations
  • Daily safety audits and inspections
  • Oversee all subcontractors and contractors
  • Knowledge of both construction and general industry OSHA safety standards

Must have the ability to:

  • Set a clear vision and direction for safety with goals and objectives
  • Communicate the vision and plan effectively to inspire and motivate others to prioritize safety in their work
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities according to team strengths and capabilities
  • Make difficult decisions and act in the best interests of the employee and the organization.
  • Identify and define problems accurately with identification and analysis of root causes of the problem
  • Utilize critical thinking and logical reasoning to develop potential solutions
  • Implement solutions in a practical and efficient manner
  • Identify patterns and trends in data and then use the information to identify potential hazards
  • Establish and maintain trust with colleagues and are viewed as approachable
  • Manage conflict and resolve differences by facilitating discussions and finding solutions

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years direct construction safety experience required
  • Experience managing safety teams 
  • Pharmaceutical experience strongly preferred
  • Owners Representative experience preferred 
  • Degree in a safety related field
  • CHST or CSP destination preferred
  • OSHA 500, 502, or 510
  • Expert knowledge of construction safety standards
  • Experience developing a Corporate Health and Safety Plan
