In 2010, Congress designated April as Distracted Driving Awareness Month. Over the past 10 years, handheld cell phone use by drivers has declined slightly. Almost all 50 states have enacted texting bans for all drivers and half of those states prohibit the use of handheld cell phones while driving.
If you use your cell phone while driving, you’re taking your eyes off the road. Distracted driving can be deadly. Drivers on cell phones — whether handheld or hands-free — see just a fraction of their driving environment.
This April, Distracted Driving Awareness Month helps bring attention to the importance of eliminating driving distractions in order to make our roadways safer for everyone. Keep yourself and others around you safe and #JustDrive.
