Congratulations to Safety Professional Raphael Shipman who was recently honored as HazTek’s Employee of the Month for May 2021! Raphael — who recently celebrated his 20th anniversary with HazTek — was nominated by three of his colleagues: Safety Professionals Marc Adam, Rick Divosevic, and Mike Rooney. Marc praised Raphael by saying, “His knowledge and dedication to safety is an integral part of the safety culture on site. He always has a positive attitude and is willing to coach contractors when he sees an opportunity.” Rick, who has worked with Raphael on multiple projects, applauded Raphael’s interactions with workers by saying, “If Raphael observes an unsafe condition/behavior on a project, there is no hesitation for him to correct it, but how he does that is the impressive part. Raphael approaches each situation with genuine concern and care and he is able to speak to the workers with respect, while getting the point across and ending his coaching message in a positive way. After these situations, you see more involvement in the safety culture from the workers he has interacted with.” Finally, Mike had this to say about Raphael, “He has a way of communicating to the workers that inspires them to want to do the right thing, all the time.” Mike nominated Raphael for the Employee of the Month award because of Raphael’s “knowledge of safety, commitment to the entire team, availability, and willingness to step in and help, along with his serious — yet to the point — approach and, of course, his likeable personality.”
