HAZTEK PROUD | KEVIN ELLICOTT

November 19, 2020

HazTek is proud to share the news that retired Marine Corps Chief Warrant Officer-2 Kevin J. Ellicott was recently awarded a Purple Heart medal, one of America’s highest military decorations. Kevin spent 24 years in the Marine Corps and was deployed overseas several times. On Dec 11, 2004, while conducting a reconnaissance patrol outside the city of Ramadi, Iraq, Kevin’s vehicle was struck by an IED and Kevin was knocked unconscious and suffered a traumatic brain injury.

The Purple Heart was presented to Kevin by his former Executive Officer, retired Marine Corps Colonel John Church at a ceremony that fittingly took place on November 10th — a day that also marked the 245th birthday of the Marine Corps. The ceremony was held at the historic marker of the former Tun Tavern in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, birthplace of the Marine Corps. Kevin’s ceremony was attended by his family, fellow Marines that he served with in Iraq, HazTek colleagues, and a detachment of the Leathernecks Nation Motorcycle Club.

As one of the many veterans employed within our company, Kevin is a Senior Safety Professional working out of our Northeast regional office and he has been with HazTek since 2014. In his spare time, Kevin works with the Veterans Motorcycle Program (Vet Moto) out of Philadelphia to help veterans suffering from PTSD and traumatic brain injury. Vet Moto is a non-profit organization that provides a safe place for veterans to learn real-world job skills, address personal needs, and engage with a supportive community.

Thank you for your service and sacrifices, Kevin. We’re proud to have you on the HazTek team.
