This week, HazTek is featuring several of our employees who have served — or continue to serve — in the U.S. Armed Forces.
After 22 years of service, Safety Professional Dennis Holt retired from the U.S. Coast Guard as a Chief Petty Officer. Dennis’ safety career began while he was serving in the Coast Guard. As a member of the National Strike Force (HazMat team), he performed the role of safety on numerous jobs. After leaving the Strike Force, he was the head engineer on two different ships where one of his responsibilities was as safety supervisor. Dennis has many memories from his service years, but the one event that really sticks out for him is when he responded to a major chemical spill in Georgia. The team was there for over a week and performed numerous Level A HazMat entries into the hot zone in order to remove chemicals that were producing hydrogen sulfide. The surrounding area had to be evacuated and the team worked to clean up the spill so that residents could get back into their homes. While serving, Dennis attended schools for safety and decided that he would pursue a career in safety after retirement.
We are privileged to work with all of our veterans and we appreciate the significant contributions that they bring to our company. Thank you for your service, Dennis.
