This week, HazTek is featuring several of our employees who have served — or continue to serve — in the U.S. Armed Forces.
Safety Professional Greg Keith served in the U.S. Navy and achieved the rank of Petty Officer Second Class during his 5-year enlistment. He served as a sonar technician and participated in Anti-Submarine Warfare operations in the Pacific Ocean. Greg chose the Navy over other branches so that he could see the world. He lived in Japan for three years and visited every continent except for Antarctica. His favorite memory from service was giving vessel tours to highly intelligent and inquisitive groups of honors students during port visits around the African continent. He is pictured, below, with a group from a Mombasa, Kenya, girls school. When asked about how his military service helped him with his safety career, he said, “Military members deliberately undertake hazardous activities every day, in the name of national security. Risk is mitigated through extensive training. During my time aboard USN vessels, safety meetings were conducted prior to any planned hazardous activity — sometimes with the same meeting occurring multiple times per week. This experience directly enhanced my ability to conduct daily, pre-work safety meetings, which are a vital component of most of my HazTek contracts.”
We are privileged to work with all of our veterans and we appreciate the significant contributions that they bring to our company. Thank you for your service, Greg.
