This week, HazTek is featuring several of our employees who have served — or continue to serve — in the U.S. Armed Forces.

Safety Professional Brian Marinaro served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps for 18 years. Brian chose to join the Marine Corps because he needed a positive direction in life and he knew that the Marine Corps would force him to grow up. One favorite memory that brought him great pride while serving was working as a Foreign Forces Advisor from 2010 – 2013 — one of only 687 people who held that position in the entire USMC. Brian is also proud of implementing a motorcycle safety program on his base which ensured that any Marine buying a motorcycle had to take training courses before riding. He started this program after seeing many young Marines buy fast bikes without knowing how to ride them. This resulted in accidents, some of which were fatal. After the base adopted this safety program, accidents and deaths went down 78% in the first six months.
