National Ladder Safety Month was created to raise awareness of ladder safety and to decrease the number of ladder-related injuries and fatalities. It is the only movement dedicated exclusively to the promotion of ladder safety at home and at work.

Every year, over 100 people die in ladder-related accidents and thousands suffer disabling injuries. According to the American Ladder Institute (ALI), the most common ladder accidents include missing the last step when climbing down from a ladder and overreaching while standing on a ladder. In addition, most falls from ladders happen when the person is standing between 6 and 10 feet off the ground.

Falls are the leading cause of death in construction and every year falls from ladders make up nearly a third of those deaths. These deaths are preventable. In the construction industry, ladders and fall protection continue to appear on OSHA’s list of Top 10 Most Frequently Cited Standards.

HazTek Safety Management understands the importance of ladder safety and offers comprehensive services and training, including solutions for fall safety.
