National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week aims to bring together individuals, organizations, industry, and tribal, state, and local governments to raise awareness of lead poisoning prevention and to reduce childhood exposure to lead.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) work together to provide resources on lead exposure and to encourage preventive actions to decrease childhood lead exposure.
Why Should You be Concerned About Lead?
No safe blood lead level has been identified for children and even low levels of lead in the blood can have lifelong health impacts. If you work near lead-based products, you can carry lead dust home on your clothes. Keep your family safe by learning more about ways to prevent bringing sources of lead exposure into the home by going to: https://www.cdc.gov/niosh/topics/lead/safe.html
