Safe + Sound Week is an annual, nationwide event held in August that recognizes the successes of workplace health and safety programs and offers information and ideas on how to keep America's workers safe.

Safe + Sound Week is part of a year-round campaign to encourage every workplace to have a safety and health program. Successful safety and health programs can proactively identify and manage workplace hazards before they cause injury or illness, improving sustainability and the bottom line.

Serious job-related injuries and illnesses don’t just hurt workers and their families — they can also hurt business. Implementing safety and health programs can help businesses:

  • Prevent workplace injuries and illnesses
  • Improve compliance with laws and regulations
  • Reduce costs, including significant reductions in workers' compensation premiums
  • Engage workers
  • Enhance social responsibility goals
  • Increase productivity and enhance overall business operations
