Thank you to HazTek team member Steve Pastor, Brian Warrick, and Mike Rooney for leading in a Safety Stand-Down event at our client’s site in East Windsor, New Jersey. The safety stand-down kicked off with lunch provided to the workers from our client, followed my HazTek’s Mike Rooney introducing everyone and thanking the sponsors of this event — many local businesses sponsored the events for the week. After that, there was a moment of silence for all the fallen construction workers who have lost their life throughout the country.

Steve Pastor then gave a safety talk on the importance of fall protection and the basics of a Fall Protection rescue plan. This was followed by workers playing an interactive online game, Kahoot, that quizzed them on their fall protection knowledge. The workers won prizes in accordance with their scores on Kahoot. Steve said there was 100% participation, and the workers were fully engaged.

The National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction is a construction safety event occurring May 6 – 10th, to help raise safety awareness in the construction industry.
