Thank you to HazTek Lead Consultant Eric Charlebois who recently shared this inspiring story for all Safety Professionals.

As a Safety Professional, you’re not always the most popular person on a project site. Eric describes the safety profession like this, “If you’re familiar with rodeos, we are the clowns in the rodeo. Either no one takes us seriously or they are just plain scared of us — until that moment when the bull comes charging and then, like that, they start screaming, ‘Where’s the clown?’”

Eric went on to say, “During your career you may find yourself going down some dark roads from time to time. Then, out of nowhere, you receive a message like this: ‘Hey Eric. I just wanted to reach out and say thank you for your trainings. I performed CPR on an 18-year-old female drowning victim yesterday. Because of your training, she is still alive today and doing well.’” The individual went on to thank Eric for working with people who don’t always appreciate the safety training that he provides, letting Eric know that there are “always a couple people in the group who are listening and learning.”

Eric loves his work in the safety profession and can’t see himself doing anything else. We’re proud to have Eric as part of the HazTek team!
