National Preparedness Month (NPM) is sponsored by the FEMA Federal Emergency Management Agency and is observed each September in an effort to raise awareness about the importance of preparing for disasters and emergencies which could happen at any time.
The theme for this year’s National Preparedness Month is "A Lasting Legacy." The life you’ve built is worth protecting. Prepare for disasters to create a lasting legacy for you and your family.
It’s important to know what disasters and hazards could affect your area, how to get emergency alerts, and where you would go if you and your family needed to evacuate. Your family should have an emergency plan and practice it often.
