Women in Construction Week | Spotlight on Susan Spaulding

March 11, 2022

HazTek Safety Professional Susan Spaulding has enjoyed being in the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) world for over twenty years. Prior to her work in EHS, Susan had worked as a maintenance planner and scheduler for a manufacturing facility. She has traveled and worked all over the U.S. and Canada. Her work has also taken her to offshore projects in the Gulf of Mexico and to the U.S. Virgin Islands. Before joining the HazTek team last year, Susan had been on a project in St. John — the smallest of the U.S. Virgin Islands — for the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service. Susan has her Construction Quality Management for Contractors certification through the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and she has worked on federal projects, most notably, the border wall in Southwest Texas.

Reflecting on her career in EHS, Susan says, “I enjoy the comradery of construction jobsites and the interesting people you get to meet – people that you can call your friend for the rest of your life, no matter where you are. I have friends in 30 states that I am still in contact with and I look forward to making more!” Susan went on to say, “I find it gratifying to impart my knowledge onto those who need help and want to learn. I challenge myself to learn something new every day, even if it is just one new word.”

Thank you to Susan for all of the experience and dedication that she brings to our organization!
