HazTek Operations Manager Kit Flores has had a long road through the safety profession, starting as field safety support to a General Contractor that built state-of-the-art stadiums, hospitals, and other public and commercial/industrial spaces. She has also provided safety support to work in chip manufacturing plants, auto manufacturers, and utility scale solar installations.

Kit came to HazTek in 2017. She started as an Owner’s Representative on a high-profile client office space and moved to auditing multiple projects; providing high-tech project support in the data center market; collaborating with demanding clients on corporate safety programs with global impact; and training workers in task specific safety requirements, precautions, and best practices.

Currently, Kit supports a team of four highly specialized safety professionals tasked with evaluating hundreds of construction projects all over the U.S. and Canada each year for a Fortune 100 client — and one of the largest employers in the U.S. She enjoys the challenge of helping her team and project stakeholders to better understand how to implement and measure their safety effectiveness. She works hand in hand with safety experts and helps shape technical tools the client and contractors rely on to manage their safety concerns.

“My role is wide-ranging and very rewarding when I see a contractor use the tools provided to improve their safety program or provide the client with information that they can act on to improve the safety of people in their facilities and construction sites,” Kit says. “Safety has infinite possibilities for different skill experience sets. Everything you do and learn contributes to what you will be able to do in the future.”

Thank you to Kit for the dedication and immense safety knowledge that she brings to our organization.

In honor of Women in Construction Week, HazTek is featuring several of our safety professionals who work out in the field.

The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) created Women in Construction (WIC) Week to highlight women as a viable component of the construction industry and as an occasion for the thousands of NAWIC members across the country to help raise awareness of the growing role of women in the construction industry and the opportunities available to them.
