Women in Construction Week | Spotlight on Eileen Foley

HazTek Safety Professional Eileen Foley started her career as a bench chemist, working for an environmental laboratory in New Hampshire where safety played a major role in her work. As the laboratory grew to other geographic areas, she had the responsibility of being the project manager with construction oversight for laboratory buildouts in Arizona, Florida, and Northern and Southern California, as well as the expansion of an existing laboratory in Kansas.

Since starting with HazTek in 2016, Eileen has consulted to a wide variety of industries, including construction and manufacturing, and cloud-based and solar companies. She has primarily worked with global construction teams for automotive and pharmaceutical firms — with emphasis on contractor safety — in order to reduce injuries and eliminate fatalities.

Eileen currently serves as the Membership Chair for the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP), Greater Detroit Chapter; acts as a mentor to a college student in the Occupational Health and Safety program through Oakland University; and is serving on the ASSP GDC CARES Scholarship Committee, which reviews and grants scholarships to college students enrolled in Environmental, Health and Safety degree programs that have been negatively affected by COVID-19. Eileen’s advice to other women in the construction industry: “Be a life-long learner, which will help you stay current with changing regulations and best practices, and get involved with professional organizations so that you develop and maintain connections with other safety professionals.”

We thank Eileen for the enthusiasm and hard work that she brings to our organization.
